Abstract

Device is intended for the treatment of water contg. lime to prevent the formation of the scale which may occur in pipe systems, boilers, heat exchangers and coolers. An insulating, plastic cylinder, closed at each end except for an inlet and an outlet, is placed upstream of the appts. to be protected and is traversed by the water. The cylinder contains two half-moon electrodes connected to a source of electric current. The electrodes are made of stainless steel, carbon or other conducting material which does not oxidise. The new device, with its plastic cylinder, avoids the tainting of the water caused hitherto by the rusting of the iron cylinders.
