Abstract

Injection moulding successive articles in a mould from thermosetting plastic comprises (a) withdrawing a quantity of a freely-flowing liquid thermosetting resin composition from a store of the resin, in order to fill a mould cavity, (b) injecting the withdrawn resin composition under pressure into a preheated mould cavity within a closed mould, (c) holding the resin composition in the mould until it is cured, and (d) removing the moulded article from the mould. The method and apparatus enable thermosetting resin compositions to be injection moulded, for the prodn. of all kinds of articles. The method is relatively simple, and requires no pretreatment of the resin. It is particularly useful for liquid polyester and epoxy resins.
