Abstract

Continuous strip material is suspended on a cushion of air as it travels through a heating and/or drying tunnel, no mechanical contact support for the strip being used during the tunnel treatment. The strip is passed along an undulating path in the tunnel, supported on opposed faces by balanced air streams which maintain the strip in the desired path. Firm control of the strip as it travels through the tunnel ensures that the strip is not subjected to flapping and stretching and so emerges undistorted from the tunnel.
