DRINKING GLASS PROTECTION DEVICE

The application relates to a protective device for a drinking glass, which includes a lid to be placed on top of the glass.

In restaurants and other places where people stay and enjoy drinks, drinking glasses are often left on the table to wait for a short time when leaving the place, for example to dance. In this case, there may be a risk that someone may touch 10 drinking glasses and drop a narcotic or other irrelevant substance into the glass. Today, there are drinking glasses or beverage containers equipped with a pivotable or hinged lid that can be pivoted above the container. In these solutions, the lid is always fixed to the body of the drinking glass or other beverage container, so that it cannot be moved. In current containers, the lid is not lockable, so by opening the lid, the drink can be touched.

It is an object of the invention to provide a drinking glass protection device which eliminates the problems associated with current practice. In particular, it is an object of the invention to provide a drinking glass protection device by means of which the beverage is protected when leaving the vicinity of the glass. It is a further object of the invention to provide a drinking glass protection device which can be carried and which is simple in construction and inexpensive to manufacture.

The object of the invention is achieved by a drinking glass protection device, which is characterized by what is stated in the claims.

According to the invention, the protective device comprises a lower part to be placed below the bottom of the glass, a height-adjustable arm fixed to the lid and the lower part and a locking device for locking the arm to the desired height. When the device is used, the glass is placed in the protective device so that the bottom of the glass is 2 97102 on top of the lower part of the protective device and the lid is placed on top of the upper part of the glass so that it covers the entire upper opening. The protective device is then adjusted by means of the arm so that the lid and the lower part are firmly against the upper part and the bottom 5 of the glass and the arm is locked at this height. In this case, the glass is protected and no one can touch its contents. The device is a separate device, so it can be easily carried and attached to the glass if necessary.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the lid is hinged to the arm. The hinge allows the lid to be securely fastened in place above the glass after the glass has been placed.

In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the lid is pivotally attached to the arm. Also in this case, it is easy to place the glass in the protective device and fasten the lid in place.

The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 shows a side view of a protective device according to the invention with the drinking glass in the protective device, and Figure 2 shows another side view of a protective device according to the invention.

In the embodiment according to Figure 1, the protective device comprises a lid 2, a lower part 3, an arm 4 and a locking device 5. The upper part of the arm 4 30 is provided with a suspension 6 and the upper part moves according to the height of the drinking glass 1. Below the suspension there is a locking device 5 which can be provided with a different locking known per se depending on the application. Below the locking device there is a fixed part 35 of the arm, to which the lower part 3 is pivotally attached by means of a hinge 7. The hinge is arranged so that the lower part only moves upwards. The cover 2 is fastened to the upper part of the arm 1 I II »luit III iti '3 97102 by means of a hinge (not shown in the figure). The cover comprises an arcuate support 8 attached to the upper part of the arm and a planar cover 9.

5 In the application according to Figure 2, the device includes the same parts as in the application according to Figure 1. In this application, the cover arm is arranged to telescopically slide inside the arm 4 of the device and the locking device is outside the arm. In this application, the lower part is fixedly attached to the arm 10.

When using the devices, the drinking glass is placed on top of the lower part, whereby in the application according to Figure 1, the lower part is first turned to the level position. The handle is used to adjust the height of the lid 15 so that it is on top of the drinking glass. When the locking device locks the lid and the whole device in place, the glass can be left safely in place.

The invention is not limited to the preferred embodiments shown, but may vary within the scope of the inventive idea formed by the claims.
