Abstract

The invention concerns a method for measuring diameter differences of cylindrical objects that are prescribed to rotate, in which method sensors A, B, C, which are attached in the peripheral direction of the object being measured in measurement housing 11 are turned in essentially the same transverse plane in the axial direction of the object 10 being measured. In the method the distance of the sensors from the surface of the object 10 being measured is measured with sensors A, B, C at a predetermined axial spacing f in a measurement point F. At measurement point F of each axial spacing f the distance results of sensors A, B, C are observed in the method essentially simultaneously. By using a known three-point method calculation the diameter difference is determined in the method for the measurement result by assuming that the deviations from the circular form in the transverse plane of the object 10 being measured are small relative to the diameter differences measured from the measurement point F of each axial spacing f to the next. <IMAGE>
