Abstract

A method to control the S/Na ratio in a kraft pulp mill in which according to the method sulfur is separated from the circulating chemicals as sulfur-containing odorous gases. According to the invention the odorous gases are fed to the digester 7 of the pulp mill for burning and are neutralized by adding calcium oxide, which is produced in the sludge furnace 8, to digester 7. <IMAGE>
