Abstract

Fabric for a papermaking machine, which has a system of flat machine-oriented monofilament yarns, hereinafter, KS yarn, which defines the permeability of the fabric. The aforesaid fabric uses yarn with a large side ratio as structural parts in the fabric. The KS yarn system comprises upper and lower yarn which is vertically overlapping. Most preferably, the upper KS yarn defines yarn runs for the fabric's upper surface and each upper KS yarn forms a pair in a vertically overlapping direction with a lower KS yarn. At least the upper KS yarns are flat monofilament yarns which are woven adjacent to each other so as to reduce the fabric's permeability 4 and to loosen the overlapping KS yarn pairs in the machine-oriented direction. An overlapping, adjacently woven machine-oriented system provides stability and gives the KS yarn a relatively large side ratio, the ratio between the width and length of the cross section, which is greater than 3:1. A seam intended for the fabric, comprising loops formed by selected KS yarn, has been arranged to make the fabric endless when used for manufacture of paper. <IMAGE>
