Abstract
The invention relates to a process for acidifying soft soap with a sodium bisulphite solution. To obtain the latter, SO2 is taken from flue gases formed when the foul- smelling gases formed in a pulp factory are burned. The SO2 obtained is then absorbed in a sodium-based alkali solution that is either NaOH or oxidized white liquor. Alternatively, the acidifying agent used is the mother liquor that contains NaHSO3 and is obtained when tall oil is acidified with SO2.
