Abstract

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for measuring quantities, which are proportionate to a person's weight G, to the heart rate HR, stroke volume SV of the heart and cardiac output CO. Based on the measurement results indices R may be calculated, which represent the physical condition of a person. According to the method described in the invention a person is positioned on a measuring support S of the invention, so that a blood flow pulse caused by a heart beat is matched by a change in a person's weight G and said change of weight is recorded. The apparatus of the invention has means L,T for registering the change of weight G. The recorded changes of weight G are used for calculating a person's heart rate HR and proportional measurements for stroke volume SV and cardiac output CO. The apparatus of the invention also has means for strengthening A and means for filtering F, FBP the signals obtained via the transducers T. The apparatus may further have means I, DSP for handling the signal and for calculating e.g. correlation functions and Fourier transformations. The apparatus may have means DSP for calculating the index figure R. For displaying the results the apparatus may house screen devices D1, D2, D3, DD. An apparatus according to the invention displays, with its screen device DD, the weight G and the heart rate HR of a person. <IMAGE>
