Abstract

The invention relates to a process for drying peat, in which wet peat 1a is removed from a peat field and dried substantially with the aid of natural energy such as direct sunshine. The dry peat 1b can be cut up or used as lumps or fuel, or else employed for planting purposes, etc., as required. When the process is suitably adapted, at least part 2 of the substantially wet peat 1a, such as a block or the like, taken from the peat field, is transferred from the said part 2 of the peat field to a drying site 3 where the wet peat 1a is dried in a stack 4 or the like. <IMAGE>
