Abstract

In order to dispose of sticky sludges in an environmentally friendly manner during the drying process and not to deposit them as aqueous solutions on special waste dumps, it is proposed according to the invention to apply the moist sludge (5) to a carrier material band (8) and then convey it through a drying furnace (3). In the drying furnace (3), the volatile components are dried out of the sludge (5). In this connection, the sludge (5) dries and adheres to the carrier material band (8, 9) to form a solid unit.
