Abstract
The invention concerns an arc shield to be used in connection with a conductor 1 in an insulated overhead power line, which conductor is provided with a thin layer of insulation and is attached by a binding wire 2 to the insulator. The shield comprises at least one shield part 4 intended to absorb the flash effect from the base point of the arc and in electrical contact with the conductor 1 and a bare current path parallel to the insulated conductor placed at its point of suspension. To achieve an arc shield which is simple in its construction and has economic benefits, the bare current path has been combined with the binding wire, either as a coating on the steel strands which make up the binding wire or as a separate metal wire among the strands of the binding wire. <IMAGE>
