Abstract
The invention relates to a method for manufacture of 1,4- dihydro-4-oxonaphthyridine derivatives with the formula I, in which R1 is a hydrogen atom or a carboxyl- protecting group, X is a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom and Y is a halogen atom, by which a compound with the formula II, in which R1a is a carboxyl-protecting group, R2b is a hydroxyl group or a possibly substituted alkoxy, alkanesulphonyl, arenesulphonyl, alkanesulphonyloxy, arenesulphonyloxy, dialkoxyphosphinyloxy or diaryloxyphosphinyloxy group and X has the aforesaid meaning, or a salt thereof, is converted with a Vilsmeier reagent, which is derived from N,N-disubstituted formamide, and, if necessary, the carboxyl protection group is removed or the product is converted to a salt or an ester. <IMAGE>
