Abstract
A foam flotation process for selective extraction of non- ferrous metal sulphide mineral or sulphidized metal oxide mineral from ores. The invention relates more specifically to a process for extracting metal sulphide mineral or sulphidized metal oxide mineral from ores, according to which ore in the form of an aqueous suspension is subjected to a foam flotation process in the presence of a fluid quantity of a flotation collector, the collector containing a hydrocarbon with one or more monosulphide units, in which the carbon atoms, to which the sulphur atoms are bound, are aliphatic or cyclo-aliphatic carbon atoms, and the total carbon content of the hydrocarbon fraction of the collector is such that the collector has a sufficiently high hydrophobic character to cause the metal sulphide mineral or the sulphidized metal oxide mineral particles to be driven to the air/bubble boundary surface under conditions such that the metal sulphide mineral or the sulphidized metal oxide mineral is extracted from the foam.
