Abstract

The invention relates to a process for the submerged culture of those Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacterial strains which produce antigens of the H type. According to the process, the culture is preferably carried out continuously in an aqueous nutrient medium which contains a carbon source, mineral salts and a nitrogen source. Succinate or uric acid is used as the carbon source. The nutrient medium must be free of proteins and antigens. This results in a bacterial biomass whose physiological state remains constant during the culture and which is free of undesirable impurities and of degradation products from the nutrient medium.
