However, it is also known to prepare aerosol products in which the ointment mixture is suspended in a suitable propellant.

The holding cream is generally applied to the sole of the ski as a solid and smoothed by rubbing. Applying and smoothing the cream is very laborious, and the cream layer is often not made even enough.

Glide creams, on the other hand, are usually melted on the bottom of the ski with a hot iron. After the cream has cooled, the excess cream is slipped off and the base is smoothed. Applying even a lubricating cream is quite laborious, as it requires several and cumbersome work steps.

The object of the present invention is, above all, to provide a paraffin-based ski cream which is easier to apply to the ski base than the creams currently in use.

A ski lubricant as defined in claim 1, a manufacturing method as defined in claim 9 and a method as defined in the claim for lubricating ski soles using this cream have now been invented. Requirements 2 to 8 apply to preferred applications of the ointment.

In the ointment now invented, paraffin and other ointments and excipients are dissolved and optionally partially dispersed in a non-polar or weakly polar, at least partially volatile organic solvent. Once the cream is applied to the ski sole, the solvent evaporates and a uniform layer of cured cream remains.

The advantage of the invented cream is, above all, its easy application and leveling. The cream can be applied to the ski base with a brush or cloth. This easily gives the desired, even layer. Once the solvent has evaporated, no more laborious cycling or leveling is required.

When using the ointment according to the invention, no special heating or sifting means are also required.

The use of the cream is also neat, as the solution cream is easy to remove with a cloth.

For example, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons or mixtures thereof can be used as a solvent in the ointment according to the invention. Suitable blends are relatively low boiling crude oil distillates, especially naphtha 80/110. Low polar solvents such as certain ethers, ketones, esters or halogenated hydrocarbons may also be considered.

The amount of solvent is selected according to whether the product is desired to be completely in solution or in part colloidal or dispersive. The form of dispersion is preferred because it requires less solvent and the cream also dries faster on the ski base. A suitable amount of solvent is, for example, 10 to 80% by weight of the total mixture. The best concentration range is 30 .. .70%, especially 50 ... 70%. The amount of solvent also depends, of course, on the solvent used and the substances to be dissolved.

For example, at least 40% by weight of the solids in the cream is paraffin. The typical paraffin content of the holding creams is 40 ... 80%. Glide creams generally contain more than 80% paraffin and are typically mere paraffin blends with less than 10% excipients as needed. The solids are selected so that the desired hardness is finally obtained for the cream remaining on the ski base. In addition to paraffin, any suitable substances can be used, such as various waxes, polymers, resins or fats. If necessary, various excipients such as plasticizers, dispersants or dyes can also be used.

The ointment is best prepared by mixing the other ingredients comminuted with the solvent.

When using the ointment, apply a suitable, even layer to the bottom of the ski and allow the layer to dry. Finally, the base can be lightly smoothed if desired.
