Claims (16)

1. Förfarande för raffinering av ferrokrommetall innehällande koi och kisel genom avlägsnande av ätminstone en del av kolet och kiseln, kännetecknat av att i) ferrokrommetallen och minst en lämplig metalloxid inmatas i en ugn med en väsentligen kolfri miljö, ii) ferrokrommetallen och metalloxiden upphettas med ett ter-miskt plasma med överförd bäge tili en temperatur, soin är till-räckligt hög för att upprätthälla bade den metalloxiden innehällande slaggfasen och ferrokrommetallfasen i smält tillständ och ästadkomma raffinering mellan flytande slagg och flytande metall, varvid metalloxiden reduceras genom inverkan av i ferrokrommetallen innehället koi och kisel, och iii) slaggen och ferrokrommetallen avtappas.
2. Förfarande enligt patentkravet 1, kännetecknat av att upp-hettningen utföres vid eller under atmosfärstryck.
3. Förfarande enligt patentkravet 1 eller 2, kännetecknat av att ferrokrommetallen utgöres av ett finkornigt material.
4. Förfarande enligt patentkravet 3, kännetecknat av att ma-terialet har en storlek av mindre än ca 2 mm i diameter.
5. Förfarande enligt nägot av de föregaende patentkraven, kännetecknat av att ferrokrommetallen blandas före inmatning.
6. Förfarande enligt nägot av de föregaende patentkraven, kännetecknat av att metalloxiden införes i ugnen i form av ett finkornigt oxidmaterial, som eventuellt kan vara agglomererat eller föreligga i form av styckeformig oxidmalm eller bädadera.
7. Förfarande enligt patentkravet 6, kännetecknat av att det finkorniga oxidmaterialet eller den styckeformiga oxidmalmen förreduceras, föroxideras eller förbehandlas pä annat sätt.
