METHOD FOR WRAPPING

This invention relates to a method of guiding a wrapping material, e.g. paper, around a roll, e.g. a paper roll, at the beginning of the wrapping step.

A commonly used method for wrapping a roll in a jacket wrapper is to rotate the roll on the rolls and at the same time guide the wrapping material between the roll and the rolls by some known method and further guide the end of the wrapping material around the roll without the aid of a device according to Finnish Pat.

The disadvantage of this method is that separate devices are needed for carrying the wrapping material, which in turn makes other work more difficult, e.g. placing end caps on the ends of the roll.

There are also usually many diameters and widths of wrapping rolls which make it difficult to construct bypass devices and cause the devices to become complex and expensive.

There are also methods in which an adhesive is used at the front edge of the wrapping material, whereby when transported between the roll and the rotating rollers, it adheres to the roll part of the roll and is guided around the roll without a separate device or manual control. This method is not applicable in those cases where glue cannot be used e.g. due to the risk of smudging and contamination of the roll to be wrapped or the paper in the roll is too weak to wrap the wrapping paper around the roll.

The method according to the present invention avoids the disadvantages of the above-mentioned methods without using any separate device for guiding the leading edge of the wrapping material, but also by utilizing the devices otherwise required for making the package.

The method according to the invention is described in detail in Fig. 1 below, which illustrates the method according to the invention seen from the side in section I-I of Fig. 2 and Fig. 2 shows the method according to the invention seen from above.

The method works as follows:

The roller (1) is rotated by rollers (2) and at the same time the wrapping material (3) is fed to the nip (4) between the roller and the rotating rollers. In connection with the rotating rollers there is, for example, an edge fold (5) according to Finnish patent publication (application 813193), with which the edge or edges of the initial end (3A) of the wrapping material are folded against the roll end and fastened to the roll end with glue or similar ) and / or to the edge of the wrapping material (3B) with the result that the front end of the wrapper follows the roll as it rotates without having to be guided separately around the roll *

The application of the adhesive (6) can be stopped when the wrapping material has sufficiently adhered to the end of the roll and the folding (3B) of the wrapping material edge can be stopped when its initial end has advanced sufficiently around the roll or the folding can be continued throughout the wrapping step. methods and thus do not fall within the scope of the invention.

As can be seen from the above, the method according to the invention achieves substantial advantages over the methods and techniques previously used, since the desired function is achieved in the present invention without considerable additional equipment and costs.

There are many embodiments of the method which achieve the same function according to the method of the invention. Instead of the edge calculator described in the invention, e.g. 65753 a roll according to a roll in a machine according to rim 45536, by means of which the desired function is achieved.

The embodiments described above are by no means the only ones for carrying out the method according to the invention, but can be applied to other device solutions within the scope of the claims.
