The menstrual tampon is generally formed by a roll of roll and then a substantially cylindrical compressed gauze. Under certain conditions, the tampon expands with the consequence that it may be difficult to insert the tampon into the placement sleeve where it would otherwise move without difficulty. On the other hand, it may happen that the tampon unintentionally falls out of the applicator before use, unless it has expanded, due to the clearance between the applicator and the tampon.

In order to achieve a suitable inventive attachment of the tampon and the positioning device, it is previously known to provide the positioning sleeve with a radially inwardly directed depression, for example according to the Danish patent publication 111 098. However, the disadvantage of such layout devices has so far been their expensive manufacture.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a positioning device which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture and suitable for mass production and which ensures that a swab which has expanded due to moisture can be easily pushed out of the positioning sleeve without falling out of it.

According to the invention, this is achieved in that the depression extends a small distance of about 4-8 mm from the insertion end towards the opposite end of the insertion sleeve and forms a sharp angle of about 5 ° with the central longitudinal axis of the insertion sleeve, the tip of which is located at the sleeve insertion end.

Commercially available paper tubes can be used for the production, which are provided with such depression by simple stamping.

The invention will now be described in more detail in the form of a preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying figures, in which Figure 1 shows the applicator with its menstrual strokes in perspective, Figures 2 and 3 show the positioning sleeve and pusher of Figure 1, each in perspective.

In Fig. 1, the positioning device A is a flexible mouldable material, such as paper, and is intended for a somewhat cylindrical menstrual swab 1. The positioning device comprises a positioning sleeve 2 and a pushing member 3 for tampon 1 inserted therein. The rear end of the push member 3 protrudes a distance of about the length of the tampon from the rear end of the setting sleeve and the push end inside its setting sleeve rests on the tampon pull-out end 1a, the drawstring being passed through the housing-like push member 3 and depending on its outer opening. The tampon 1 is substantially surrounded by a layout sleeve. Mainly only when the front end of the tampon is provided with a so-called wheel head, this may in some cases extend slightly from the layout sleeve 2.

According to Figures 1-3, the inner diameter of the insertion end of the positioning sleeve 2 is dimensioned slightly smaller than the other inner cross-sectional surface of the positioning sleeve where the pushing member 3 is located. In the embodiment shown, this reduction in the diameter of the insertion head is achieved by means of two wall depressions, preferably in the shape of a tampon, at its insertion end, of which only one depression 2b is shown in Figure 1 and both depressions 2a and 2b in Figure 2. The figures show that the depressions 2a and 2b of the positioning sleeve extend only a relatively small distance from the length of the positioning sleeve compared to its insertion end. Nevertheless, these depressions are appropriate because they prevent undue axial movement of the tampon due to the clearance between the outer wall of the tampon and the inner wall of the placement sleeve, which in some cases could cause the tampon to come out completely from the placement sleeve, because the depressions 2a, 2b are either and in the area between the cylindrical sheath surface or only in the latter almost point-like.

It can be seen mainly from Figure 2 that the longitudinal central axes of the depressions 2a, 2b of the positioning sleeve form an acute angle tapering towards the insertion end.

This is also noticeable from the fact that the depressions expand towards the insertion head. This ensures that tampons of different diameters cannot move in the axial direction when the depressions 2a, 2b prevent it. Furthermore, the gradual change of the cylindrical wall of the positioning sleeve to the flattened diameter makes it possible for the tampon to slide unobstructed along the depressions so that the fibrous structure of the outer surface of the tampon remains perfect despite these axial movement-inhibiting depressions.

The sleeve-shaped pusher part 3 has a longitudinal trough-shaped or groove-shaped depression 3a. The shape of this depression is such that it tends to lower as the inner diameter of the setting sleeve increases, so that the pushing member thus always rests resiliently in the radial direction on the inner wall of the setting sleeve 2. Therefore, the frictional force acting between the pusher 3 and the setting sleeve 4 580S9 is sufficient to secure the pusher to the position shown in Fig. 1 in the axial direction, so that the pusher cannot come out of the setting sleeve even when the housing is held down. In this case, the tampon 1 is also attached to the inside of the setting sleeve in the axial direction of the insertion head from the opposite end. On the other side, the frictional forces between the pusher and the positioning sleeve are dimensioned so that the user can easily push the pusher out with the finger by pressing the pusher.

The pusher may, of course, also have several depressions and bumps if desired, provided, however, that the pusher in any case rests under radially tensioned on the inner wall of the positioning sleeve to secure itself and the tampon in place.

Naturally, it is possible to combine the flattening of the layout sleeve with its depressions. In addition, it is conceivable that, while maintaining the shape of the arrangement sleeve, its inner surface is provided at its pushing end with one or more thin leaf springs or similar wedge-acting members, which are e.g. paper. In any case, it is essential that the axial attachment of the tampon is ensured by means fitted to the positioning sleeve which do not damage the tampon, e.g. by roughening its fibrous structure, which could cause the fibers to detach when the tampon is used.

A further advantage of the positioning device is that both the push-in sleeve and the positioning sleeve can be made of a single tubular starting material with the same diameter, which tends to substantially reduce the manufacturing costs of the positioning device.
