Abstract
A method and equipment for utilizing thermal energy of flue gases in a coal power plant, in which flue gas coming from a coal boiler (1) is washed in a wet scrubber (3) by spraying water-containing washing fluid into the flue gases for removing impurities contained in the flue gases, the temperature of the flue gases thus dropping in the wet scrubber (3). Flue gases coming from the coal boiler (1) are cooled at a heat recovery unit (8) before being conveyed to the wet scrubber (3), and the thermal energy recovered is used in energy production.
