When moving a vehicle from one place to another, preserving valuables during stops, for example, while visiting a gas station, can be problematic. If valuables are included, there is a fear of being robbed. On the other hand, if valuables are left in the vehicle, there is a fear of breaking into the vehicle. For this purpose, there are movable storage boxes which can be attached, for example, to a vehicle.

One such storage box is disclosed in US 2,755,748 A, wherein the storage box includes a trough base for valuables, a lid portion defining a closed portion of the base, and a locking member that locks the base and lid portion together. The problem with such a structure, however, is its poor durability, since the hinge of the locking member is an easy target for criminals to break. Similarly, the freely displayed padlock is subject to the use of various torque arms when breaking the padlock.

It is an object of the invention to provide a tamper-resistant storage box that can be locked in its environment, compared to prior art movable storage boxes. The features of the present invention are set forth in the appended claims 1.

This object may be achieved by a container for valuables comprising a base portion forming a limited volume for valuables, comprising a base and bottom circumferential sidewalls and a lid portion for enclosing the bottom portion into a closed volume that substantially corresponds to the bottom portion and comprises at least a lid. The bottom part 12 includes the bottom 16 and the side walls 18 in accordance with the embodiment of Figures 2a to 2c. The base 16 and the side walls 18 form a distal structure in which valuables can be placed for protection against theft. The base 16 may have a rectangular shape as in the embodiment of Figures 2a to 2c, but the base shape may vary from circular to polygonal and asymmetrical. By reference to the side walls 18, we mean planes perpendicular to the base 16 which orbit the edges of the base 16. Preferably, the locking member is a structure formed by bending a single piece or alternatively a casting piece. Preferably, the hanging loops of the locking member 32 also include a straight extension 64 which is intended to extend back into the storage box.
