Abstract
Un salvavidas, de tipo individual, caracterizado por consistir en un balón esférico, de cubierta laminar delgada, con alto coeficiente de resistencia a la tracción y de alta cifra de deformación elástica, imputrescible a la acción del agua salada y dulce y prácticamente autosecable en escaso tiempo, absolutamente impermeable al aire, el cual está envuelto por una red de material filiforme resistente y flexible, formando mallas relativamente grandes, ciñendo una semi-esfera y prolongándose luego cónicamente para concurrir todos los cabos en un punto donde se empalma el extremo de la cuerda lanzadora, de las mismas características, preferiblemente, que las del material de la citada red, y de longitud adecuada para ser lanzado el balón desde tierra a la persona accidentada, sirviendo las referidas mallas para un buen asido por esta última, siendo el diámetro del balón tal que su flotabilidad permita sostener el peso de una persona inerte, duplicándose el referido balón si el caso lo requiere, valiéndose de una misma cuerda lanzadora, permitiendo así que el accidentado utilice un balón para cada mano.
