Abstract

The device comprises a main motor circuit including regenerative braking control. A filter capacitor is connected in parallel to said main motor circuit and a series connected resistor and chopper are connected in parallel to the filter capacitor. The chopper includes a constant frequency chopper section operable when the voltage across the filter capacitor lies within in a predetermined range. An instantaneous value chopper control section is operable when the filter capacitor voltage exceeds a predetermined value. - The constant frequency chopper control section comprises an operational amplifier having a phase shifting circuit connected to its output and receiving a target value and the actual value of the filter capacitor voltage, the phase shifting circuit providing an output signal corresponding to a determined pulse output. The instantaneous value chopper control section comprises a filter capacitor overvoltage detector having a logic circuit connected to it and a filter capacitor low voltage detector having a second logic circuit.
