Abstract

The lock includes a housing having attachment to secure the housing at a predetermined location on a shopper cart and a coin-activated unlocking actuator movably mounted in the housing for displacement on a working axis. The actuator has a coin-carrying slot and a spring biased retention hook limiting inward displacement of the actuator along the working axis in the absence of one or more coins in the slot. A locking mechanism displaceably mounted inside the housing has a lock pin and a pin displacing member. - A key receivable in a slot in the housing is immovably engageable by the lock pin, and the actuator is engaged in the housing. The key releases the actuator and causes the locking mechanism to engage the key in the housing. A retention clip connected with the housing holds flat objects e.g. electronic calculator for user.
