Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for washing articles made of cork, in particular cork stoppers and panels. The process is characterised by the following stages: 1. The articles are treated with an aqueous solution containing 4 to 15% by weight of hydrogen peroxide, a stabilising agent of the latter and an alkaline substance in a quantity such that the initial pH of the solution lies between 9.5 and 11.5 2. The articles are washed with water 3. The articles are treated with an aqueous solution of an acidic substance in a quantity such that the initial pH of the solution lies between 0 and 4 4. Finally, the articles are dried.
