Abstract
The blocking or balking pins (52) of a synchronizing clutch assembly for a change-speed transmission have, in addition to the usual central recess cooperable with a detent (38) for holding the shift sleeve (12) in neutral, further recesses (62) and ramp surfaces (60). The latter serve to pull the shift sleeve towards a selected gear engaging position, and the recesses (62) serve both to retain the sleeve in either such position and to reduce the time taken for gear changes by causing the assembly to move as a whole from one engaged position towards the other such position. Cocking of the synchronizer rings (42, 44) is also prevented.
