LA SEPARACION POR REDUCCION DEL GRUPO BENCILO SE LLEVA A CABO MEDIANTE HIDROGENACION CATALITICA EMPLEANDOSE COMO CATALIZADORES METALES, COMO RUTENIO, PALADIO, NIQUEL, HIERRO, COBRE Y OTROS, Y LOS OXIDOS Y SULFUROS DE ESTOS METALES; DONDE LOS CATALIZADORES PUEDEN PREPARARSE REDUCIENDO SUS OXIDOS ESTABLES CON HIDROGENO, DIRECTAMENTE EN EL RECIPIENTE DE REACCION.
