Abstract

Trans-4-hydroxy N-(2-amino 3,5-dibromo benzyl) cyclohexylamine of formula (I) is made by (a) reacting a 2-amino benzoate ester of formula (II) with bromine; (b) reducing the prod. with a metal hydride complex to give 2-amino 3,5-dibromo benzyl alcohol; (c) reacting this with a halogenating agent to form 2-amino 3,5-dibromo benzyl halide; (d) reacting this with a cpd. of formula (III) to give a cpd. of formula (IV) which is (e) hydrolysed in aq. acid medium to give (I).
