Abstract
Appts. for cooling has fluidised solid particles comprises a hot particle collection chamber, a shell and tube heat exchanger in sealed communication with the collection chamber, a fluidising gas inlet connected to the shell side of the heat exchanger and having a gas flow control valve. The flow of fluidising gas into the heat exchanger is regulated with simultaneous regulation of the heat transfer coefft. between the outside surface of the tubes of the heat exchanger and the dense phase fluidised catalyst bed formed in the shell side of the heat exchanger. - Used for fluid particle backmixed cooling, e.g. in the regeneration of coke- contaminated fluid cracking catalyst. (Provisional Basic previously advised in Week 8343) (0/3) EPAB- EP-105980 B A process for cooling hot fluidised solid particles comprising circulating said hot particles into a cooling zone wherein heat is withdrawn from said hot particles by indirect heat exchange with a cooling fluid enclosed in a heat exchange means inserted into said cooling zone to produce relatively cool particles, characterised in that said particles are maintained in said cooling zone is controllably maintained by controlling the quantity of said fluidising medium passed into the cooling zone, whereby the heat transfer coefficient between said heat exchange means and said dense phase fluidised bed is controlled.
