The flow of fluidising gas into the heat exchanger is regulated with simultaneous regulation of the heat transfer coefft. between the outside surface of the tubes of the heat exchanger and the dense phase fluidised catalyst bed formed in the shell side of the heat exchanger. - Used for fluid particle backmixed cooling, e.g. in the regeneration of coke- contaminated fluid cracking catalyst.
