Abstract

The method is for applying steering forces to a suction head, for cleaning submerged surfaces, which is connected to a suction source by a flexible suction nose, it is connected to the head normal to the surface to be cleaned and is actuated to move by the flow of liquid from it through the suctions hose and in the process of movement detaches itself at least momentarily from the surface. - It comprises the step of, intermittently, between spaced time intervals, causing the flowing liquid to apply a torque about the axis of the suction hose at some zone along its length. The torque is used or released to turn the head about its connection point to the suction hose. DEAB- DE3320923 C The suction cleaning device for cleaning underwater surfaces includes a suction hose and a housing moving over the surface being cleaned. Friction feet are swivel mounted inclined on the housing which when operated by a first turbine cause the housing to move. A drive wheel is connected secure against rotation to the connection stems whichconnect the end of the suction hose. - A second turbine mounted in the by-pass pipe and driven by the water flowing into this pipe intermittently and temporarily transfers a torque to the drive wheel when the by pass pipe is opened and closed alternately by a suitable device. A gear unit is mounted between the second turbine and the drive wheel.
