Abstract

A flywheel arrangement (5), rotatable by a shaft (4) has a flywheel (10), a compression member (13) and a relaxation device (15, 16, 17) with balls arranged at angular intervals and inclined planes, which are so arranged that one of the members (10, 13) is axially movable and actuates a brake force modulator (3) when the flywheel and the compression member is shifted from a predetermined angular alignment relative to one another. The compression member (13) is supported on the shaft (4) by means of a mount (18) which has a drive flange (19) coupled to the shaft (4) and a coupling plate (21) frictionally engaging with the compression member (13) which plate is driven by the flange by way of a coupling which allows the compression member (13) to move radially and pivotably in relation to the flywheel (10). The movable member (10, 13) is under a pretensioning force and the articulated mount (18) ensures that the force is distributed essentially uniformly to the balls (15).
