Abstract

A process is disclosed for recovering rubber from guayule plant material which comprises forming an aqueous suspension of resin/rubber particles of about 0.8-13 mm. diameter and extracting them with an oxygenated organic solvent for resin is described. The suspension of particles is formed by removing organic solvent by evaporation from a rubber/resin solution extracted from the plant in the presence of water containing at least one surfactant e.g. a surfactant and a metal salt of a fatty acid.
