Abstract

Disclosed is a jar accelerator 11. The accelerator 11 includes an elongated tubular tool body (12) and an elongated mandrel (13) axially slidingly mounted within the tool body (12) and having an outwardly facing shoulder (18). A plurality of frusto-conical disc springs (29) are disposed inside the tool body (12) about the mandrel (13) and between the shoulders (17, 18). The jar accelerator 11 is used in conjunction with a jar 20.
