Abstract

The invention relates to a method for joining rolled parts, in particular for use for wing, door, bonnet and hatch walls of motor vehicles. The method is characterised in that the parts to be joined are successively subjected to the steps a) surface cleaning, b) washing in water at room temperature, c) chromate treatment in a solution of chromium(III) oxide, sodium fluoroborate, potassium iron(III) cyanide and sodium nitrate which has a pH of 1.8 to 2, d) washing in deionised water, e) drying, f) extrusion of a bead of a single component epoxy adhesive in paste form onto one of the surfaces to be joined, g) joining of the parts, h) flanging of the edge zones of the parts at 180 DEG C and i) heat-curing of the adhesive. The method enables the joining of new and old parts without impairment of the shear strength of the joining sites.
