Abstract

A method for arc welding protected with inert gas comprises the use of weld-metal wire which has a sulphur content of less than 0.010 per cent by weight. The use of the weld-metal wire of low sulphur content substantially reduces the groups of sulphur inclusions in the weld metal and substantially improves the soundness of the weld.
