Abstract

Mounting arrangement for a matrix or panel of solar cells used for electrical power generation. The arrangement allow the matrix to be cooled and individual cells to be checked for power output and to be replaced if necessary. The cells are arranged in rows and columns on a plate backed by a corrugated panels (8), the corrugations acting as channels for cooling water. The panel rest in a recessed rigid polyurethane foam block 20 to 25 mm thick leaving sufficient space in front of the solar cells to provide a general cooling volume. The cooling volume and the cells are protected by a glass sheet over the forward side of the foam block, held in position by an aluminium frame recessed into the foam.
