ESTA CAPACIDAD SE CONECTA JUNTO CON UN CONDENSADOR (CV) A UN OSCILADOR (6); LAS CAPACIDADES PARASITAS (CP) SE TIENEN EN CUENTA. LA TENSION EN BORNES DE LA CAPACIDAD (CB) ESTA MODULADA POR LAS VARIANTES DEL ESPESOR DE LA CAPA DE LUBRICANTES. ESTA SEÑAL ES DEMODULADA EN EL DESMODULADOR (8), QUE DISPONE DE UN MULTIPLICADOR (9) Y UN FILTRO PASO BAJO (10), Y LA ENVIA A UN CIRCUITO DE CONVERSION PARA MEDIDA DEL ESPESOR DE LA CAPA.
