Abstract

The connector is for electrical wiring to the overhead cables used with electrically powered railway systems. The connector consists of an approximately circular cross-section metal block (1) one side of which is cut away to form a profile roughly matching that of the grooves in the overhead cable such that it can pressed onto the cable. The block also has a drilled out section which takes the branch conductor. Once the block and attached conductor is pressed onto the line a tool is used to compress it so that a tightly gripping fit is obtained the pressure used being such as to change the cross-section from circular to hexagonal. The connector is demountable by use of a tool cutting away part of the block.
