Abstract

The two rings (17, 18) are mounted on the machine shaft via either plastic half cylinders or separate sectors of strips forming overall cylinders. The identical half cylinders (10a, 10b) are cut away or stepped to allow the identical conducting rings surfaces to be folded over one edge of the insulation and to create an insulation gap between them. Both cylinders are also cut away to allow a tongue of metal extending from one ring to pass between itself and its neighbour and to pass underneath the ring it supports. Each ring has an 'L' shaped cross-section, the tongues being folded over (19, 20) as they leave the cylinder closest to the rotor to form connection lugs.
