Abstract

1. Un método para aumentar el tiempo útil de trabajo efectivo de un vendaje ortopédico que endurece mediante una reacción de polimerización catalizada por radicales libres, donde dicho vendaje comprende una composición formadora de escayola que incluye un monómero vinílico sólido, soluble en agua, y por lo menos un componente de un sistema catalítico redox capaz de iniciar la polimerización de dicho monómero vinílico, comprendiendo dicho sistema catalítico redox un compuesto de cobre en combinación con un agente reductor, sobre un soporte flexible, cuyo método se caracteriza por proporcionar a dicho vendaje, antes de o durante la polimerización del mismo, una sal de un metal alcalino-térreo.
