Abstract

A refractory structure, for building internal components of vertical furnaces, incorporates a core of sheet metal, with longitudinal and transverse partitions fixed on it, perpendicular to its surface. The partitions form four-sided cells closed on one side by the core and open on the other side. The cells are filled with refractory material. The structures are partic. for use in limestone furnaces, for mixing supporting beams for burners cooled by air protecting supports for a side burner, and burner injection heads. The use of this structure for constructing injection heads avoids the blockages of the burners without the bad effects on fuel distribution experienced in existing furnaces.
