Abstract

Device for the storage and transport of liq., e.g. a water heating tank subjected to pressure has a wall made of a corrodible material, usually steel, with a thickness sufficient to withstand internal and external working pressures and an inner lining resistant to corrosion. The cylindrical wall of the tank is joined to a dome of the same materials by a circular, conical, lap joint, where the bottom end of the dome is pressed over the conical end of the wall and the bottom end of the dome is welded or brazed onto the outside of wall. The length (a) of the lap joint is pref. sufficient so that the corrosion resistance of the lining is not impaired by the heat used in welding or brazing. A sacrificial anode sleeve is pref. included at the joint. The water heating tanks are usually made of copper, and the invention uses steel with an inner lining e.g. of stainless stee.
