Abstract

The irrigation system is designed for large areas and uses a tractor carrying a drum of irrigation hose. The tractor and its functions are powered by the pressure of the incoming irrigation water. This drives an hydraulic motor which, in turn, powers the two front wheels of the tractor through a reduction unit. The single rear wheel is for steering and guiding the hose. The same motor also powers the drum for winding or unwinding the hose, a selector clutch being provided. A combustion engine may replace the hydraulic motor for driving the wheels, the motor powering the drum only.
