Abstract

The game can be played by two players using a board which is divided into a number of hexagonal areas. The board depicts a seascape which includes islands, repair bases and fleet headquarters. Each player has twenty five playing pieces depicting minefields and various kinds of warship which can be moved in any direction over the board in an attempt to reach the opponents harbour. The number of spaces moved is controlled by using an electronic programmer device on which are a number of light-emitting diodes controlled by switches. By pressing the 'count' button one or more of three lights, numbered 2-3 and 4 are let the sum of these is then the number of spaces moved. After moving each piece the opponent nominates an opposing ship and the 'fire' button is pressed this causes a further diode to light up, flash or remain unlit to signify a sinking, damaged for a missed shot.
