Abstract
Apparatus for adjusting the space between electrodes in an electrolytic cell, said electrodes being constituted by at least one set of adjustable anodes, at least one conductor that feeds current to said set of anodes, and a liquid cathode in spaced relationship with said set of anodes, said apparatus comprising, in combination: a. Digital computer means programmed with predetermined normal signal margins for current signals for each of said conductors; b. Means for detecting a series of n current signals to each of said conductors for a predetermined period; c. Means for selecting, from said detected signals, a set of selected signals generated from one of said conductors to one of said sets of anodes; d. Means for supplying said selected signals, in digital form, to said digital computer means; and. Means for comparing said selected signals with said predetermined normal signal margins for said selected conductor of said selected set of anodes, programmed in said digital computer; f. Means in said digital computer for generating electrical activation signals when said signals selected in digital form are outside said predetermined normal signal ranges; and g. Operable motor means for raising or lowering said selected set of anodes, said motor means being driven by said electrical activation signals when said selected signals are outside said normal signal ranges.
