Abstract
Procedure for preparing 2-substituted 5-trifluoraethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles, of formula **(See formula)** in which R represents substituted alkyl, once-ortho- or meta-substituted phenyl, severally substituted phenyl, substituted phenylalkyl, optionally substituted phenylakenyl, 5- and 6-membered heterocyclic radicals with 1 to 4 heteroatoms (N, S) optionally substituted, benzimidazolyl or optionally substituted benzthiazolyl, optionally substituted naphthyl, quinolyl, cyano, as well as the groupings **(See formula)** R1 and R2 representing together a tri-, tetra- and pentamethylene group; X represents oxygen or sulfur, and R'and R''represent alkyl or, together with the nitrogen atom and possibly with subsequent heteroatoms (0; N), a ring of 6 or 7 members possibly substituted and n is one of the integers 0, 1 and 2; characterized in that 2-halogen-5-trifluoromethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles of the formula **(See formula)** in which Y represents chlorine or bromine, they are reacted with mercaptans of the formula RS-H (III) in which R has the meaning indicated above, optionally in the presence of a solvent and an acid binding agent, at temperatures between approximately 0 and 120ºC, and optionally the 2-substituted 5-trifluoromethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles obtained of formula **(See formula)** in which R has the meaning indicated above, it is reacted with an oxidation agent obtaining, according to the oxidation agent used, compounds of formula (I) where n = 1 or 2.
