Abstract
Procedure to prepare azo dyes, free of carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid groups, which have the formula: **(See formula)** where A is the residue of a quaternized triazole; R3 is a non-ionogenic substituent, n is 0, 1, 2 or 3; R4 is hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl group; R5, R6, R7 and R8 are each hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or propyl and two or three of R5, R6, R7 and R8 are hydrogen and X is an anion; characterized in that it comprises renting a compound of the formula: **(See formula)** where R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8 and n are as defined above and A 2 is the residue of a triazole having at least one unsubstituted nitrogen atom.
