Abstract
An improved fiber optic cable connector, for the connection and disconnection of at least one first and second optical fiber cable, each of said cables including an optical fiber bundle composed of a number of light transmitting fibers independently of each other, said connector comprising: a first and a second outer cover having associated sockets to which said first and second cables are respectively adapted to be fastened and arranged in extension from each other, a means for putting them on substantially axial position said bundles of fibers when said outer covers are coupled together, a means including an axial cylindrical cavity formed inside said ferrules when said outer covers are coupled together, said cavity extending axially on either side of the point, in which the fibers are put to butt; a cylindrical sleeve of a deformable elastomeric material that is contained in said cavity, said sleeve having a through hole having a central area of a uniform diameter in the part where the fibers are butted and a conical area open outwardly at each end.
