Abstract
Procedure and apparatus for oxygenating a wastewater body comprising providing an oxygenation chamber, admitting wastewater for oxygenation within the chamber, the procedure being characterized by comprising the steps of creating a turbulent condition in the fed wastewater and connecting the turbulent wastewater with an oxygenation gas whereby oxygen is dissolved in said turbulent wastewater; transporting the oxygenated wastewater to a resting zone within said chamber to substantially dissipate the turbulence and reduce the speed of said wastewater to thereby allow the release of the oxygenation gas trapped in said oxygenated wastewater; and discharging said oxygenated wastewater from the resting zone at an increased speed into the body of untreated wastewater whereby the oxygenated wastewater is mixed with said body of wastewater.
