Abstract

Improvements made to magnetic latches to interlock an electrical switch with a movable operating structure, in at least one operating position thereof, characterized in that the magnetic latch comprises a cover of a magnetizable material; a magnetizable core guided on the cover for movement in opposite directions and back and forth; a permanent magnet structure arranged in the cover adjacent to the magnetizable core; the core, at the end of its movement in at least one of the opposite directions, couples with a part of the magnetizable cover so as to close a magnetic circuit through the permanent magnet structure, the core and parts that include that part of the cover, to thereby magnetically interlock the core in that part of the cover; an electrical coil arranged within the shell to produce, upon excitation thereof, a flux that opposes the permanent magnetic flux in the closed magnetic circuit enough to free the nucleus for movement in the other opposite direction; and an elongated connection element for operating connection of the core to the movable operating structure of the electrical switch, the connection element being connected to the nucleus for movement therewith and extending out of the housing.
